Desert Psychedelic - Jimmy Pike
$10

Desert Psychedelic :Jimmy Pike is an exhibition that celebrates the creative achievements of jimmy Pike (c.1940-202), one of Australia’s great Indigenous artists and the designer of some of the most extraordinary Australian textiles of the twentieth century.

It is an integral part of the artisan's strategy to place Indigenous design within an ongoing dialogue about art, craft and design, and culture and place.  Desert Psychedelic, developed at artisan in 2009, demonstrates the relationship between Indigenous art making and it's translation to designer product.

The exhibition, it's content, stories and positive message of collaborative relationships proved inspiring for Australian audiences and artisan is delighted to present Desert Psychedelic: jimmy Pike to an international audience at the Nigbo Museum of Art in China in 2011.

The development of regional projects that stimulate new audiences is an important objective for artisan and we are delighted that this exhibition will also be touring extensively across Australia.
