Interpretation Signage - Gatehouse and Terrace

Signage for the Terrace frontage and Gatehouse courtyard areas of the Prison consists of Courtyard Identification signs and Interpretation panels.

The Courtyard Identification Panels identify public access areas, interpret the original use and provenance of courtyard buildings, and provide way-finding for visitors in the Gatehouse area.  These signs facilitate the movement of visitors through the area and enhance their experience of the Prison by providing an added layer of interpretive and historical information they would otherwise not receive.

Interpretation Panels include an entry complex interpretive sign, a preservation and conservation panel, and for the buildings along the Terrace the signs include the street number, information about the history of the building, and a historical image.

All of the above signs have been designed to have minimal impact on the physical as well as spatial fabric of the site, and to be clearly identifiable.
